Looks Like Someone's Got A Case Of The Mondays…

… if Monday was every day!

Here's a hint. It's not this one:

It's really, really not this one.

– Good MORNING, everyone! Rise and shine!!!

Here's another hint in the form of what might be the saddest picture I've ever taken:

– Why won't you get up brother? Can't you see I want to play? *sigh*

And a couple more:

– Mondays are...

– ... so very hard.

Fishing Enthusiasts

New fishing gear for the bath was a big hit all around – and judging by appearances, most especially with Nate!

Waking Up Is Hard To Do

Despite appearances, Seth was a particularly tough customer.

– Hey guys... whatcha doin'?
– Wrestling!

– OK, carry on then.

Recharging their batteries.

The Finger-Of-Doom*. Seth has it.

PS. The Finger-Of-Doom is no joke and it's nothing you want pointed at you at any time of day, much lest first thing in the morning. Let's just say certain threats were made and leave it at that.

Photo Booth

I've debated it before, but today I couldn't resist. The boys marveled at a machine that gave us pictures of ourselves at the end!

Green Slime

Cornstarch, water and food coloring can go along way with a couple of sick boys, but it's certainly not for the faint of heart.

Happy Hallowe'en!

I wasn't sure we'd make it out this year between the rain and everyone in some stage of a cold, but the weather was warm and the rain was light.* Last year's Hallowe'en costumes still fit and the boys made out like bandits on the candy. I also decided Gamma Rita was right when it came to costuming this year – Seth definitely makes a fine police officer (although last year he was better suited to the other costume if you catch my drift).

Are you going to mess with Officer Seth? I didn't think so.

- L.

*The trick or treating might have not been my finest idea since we're all sicker today than yesterday, but I'd do it all again just for the looks on those faces in the third picture. Nate was especially eager to get the show on the road:

Hair Hats!

Hair hats – we have some. They are awesome. If you want to get yourself a hair hat, you can find them here. She also makes a mean tutu. Enjoy!

The City Of Toronto

Last night while I was making supper my boys got busy and created a likeness of our city with things from their playroom. I don't normally endorse toys outside the playroom/bedroom but they did such a nice job I couldn't say no. Also I had a meal to prepare.

The city came complete with a boogle*, CN Tower and a "Gardiner Expressway". It also featured a "construction zone":

Plenty of "green space":

And a wee crane:

- L.

*Sandy and Boogee have been busy. Aside from their made up names they have a host of imaginary friends now ("Washer", "Numbers" and "Sara"). FYI, a "boogle" is pretty much any kind of building with lots of windows that isn't the CN Tower.

PS. A couple of Godzillas tore our lovely city asunder after supper. It's still in ruins. There is general pandemonium in the streets. Our living room remains in a "state of emergency".

Bottom Of The Ninth

– Hey! What is that you have there? Is it a baseball?
– It IS!

– Can I have it?
– No.

– You still can't have it. *giggle*
– That's OK. I'm over it. I'm going to smile at the camera now...

– ... right before I make funny faces.
– Is it funny face time already?
– It is! Funny face time always comes right before...

– ... baseball bum time!
– It's been a long time since the last time we had baseball bums.
– I hope everyone enjoys the show!
– This kind of thing doesn't come around too often.

Haircuts.

When Gamma Rita came to visit us this past summer I really needed some help. I was pretty busy packing boxes and coordinating a big move. In fact, I was off signing the lease when Gamma Rita "Archie Bunker'd" me, except instead of taking the boys out to get baptized she went and got them some haircuts.

When I got home she said, "You're probably going to get mad, but I took the boys to get a haircut today and it's really short. Maybe they look a little bald - it's very short. You'll see in the morning."

I didn't have time at the time to get mad because "Mommy was pooped" and also they looked really handsome when I got to see them the next day. We took some pictures once I'd wiped the sleep out of my eyes.

At ease soldier!

The truth is Seth looks good bald and he's got hair that is easy to manage, but I'd been growing out Nate's hair for a reason. We're about halfway there now.

They looked so handsome yesterday after a visit to see Mike the Barber with Daddy. I took some pics this morning:

PS. No more haircut ambushes, OK Gamma Rita?

PPS. I dressed them in the same outfits today on purpose.

When You Look Away...

When you look away is always when the magic happens.

I made the mistake of looking here when my boys made a dragon:

At the time I thought it was a pretty good dragon made out of magnet letters on the fridge so I said "Hold on, I'll go and grab my camera..." and then chugged upstairs and downstairs to fetch it.

This is my boys showing off their dragon:

The level of excitement on the left is palpable. Nate of course was making his regular face for the camera, so don't read too much into it.

Except, somewhere between taking a picture of a dragon only a mommy could love, Nate made a fairly fantastic chicken:

And I'm going to work on looking away a little more often.*

- L.

PS. Something you will either get or not, but foxes do love a chicken (albeit sometimes a little too hard).

*But not for too long. Looking away is also when the mischief happens.
