"O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land, glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee;
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee."
"Did you put water in there, Mommy? Those aren't real poppies, you know." |
Er... yes, I did know, but thanks. M. and I were able to watch the boys at assembly this morning as they sang both the National Anthem as well as reciting a poem they had learned along with their classmates:
Poppy, poppy, what do you say?
– Wear me on Remembrance Day.
Poppy, poppy, what do you tell?
– Many soldiers in battle fell.
Poppy, poppy, what should we know?
– That peace on earth should grow, grow, grow!
They also made some crafts and wore poppies (reluctantly at home, willingly at school - go figure!). The pictures were taken at the end of the day so please pardon our tired/overly excited expressions and blurry poppies. It's hard to sit still after observing an entire minute of silence earlier today.
